3. VOD (Vacuum Oxygen Decarburization) Furnace Maintenance Costs

The VOD furnace combines the functions of vacuum degassing and oxygen decarburization. Similar to the VD furnace, the vacuum system in the VOD furnace is a key area for maintenance. The same issues with vacuum pumps, seals, and filters apply.

The oxygen injection system in the VOD furnace is unique to this type of furnace. The oxygen lance, which is used to inject oxygen into the molten steel, is subject to wear and tear.
